About

Hello and welcome!

My name is Basetsana Tlhobogang, Associate Fellow of Advance Higher Education| PhD candidate, Media and Communication @ Newcastle University| Mentor at The University of Melbourne, Access Connections Mentoring Program

I am a Media and Communications specialist with particular interest in 21st century digital technologies and their impact in promoting learning that goes beyond formal learning environments. Interest in this field was cultivated during my studies in MA Global Media Communication as I experienced first hand the benefits and challenges of learning through digital technologies. I had to reflect on my professional practice and decided to share both my reflections and experiences, and that is how this blog was conceived. A few years after this blog was born I have experienced growth in leaps and bounds, including welcoming twin boys. So, you will get some twin mama content, which will also bring in the In vitro-fertilisation (IVF) experience.

Previously I have taught Communication at University of  Botswana, and at Molepolole College of Education. I also have a qualification and experience in teaching English as a second language.

New kid on the blog, well not anymore. I have been doing this for a decade now!

I am an armature in the blogosphere and I am here to share my experience and reflections as a teacher. My blog takes you through this journey.

I am pleased to announce that there has been real growth and lots of fun, amid the challenges that a lot of us in this profession might be aware of. I look forward to interacting with new as well as seasoned teachers, and everyone who has been through the hands of a teacher. Learners are highly welcome too, to tell us where we need to improve in our interactions with them so that they

Aspirations

I am interested in promoting use of digital technologies and participatory learning approaches at basic and higher education, in Botswana. This will be achieved through research and collaboration with the curriculum department, policy-makers and other stakeholders in the relevant ministries. I subscribe to the life-long learning agenda and believe digital technologies would play a significant role in advancing this ideal.
